About Me.

Welcome To WeDontSettle Triathlon.

Hi, I'm Ken. I'm a British Triathlon Qualified Coach (level 2 Diploma), a UKAD Coach Clean Advisor, soon to be a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Nutritionist and I'm driven by people who want to do better.

I've set up WeDontSettle Triathlon to encourage people to try something new with a supportive and encouraging approach along the way. My focus is about the person and not the process and I like to know the whole person rather than just the triathlete. If you'd be interested in speaking about what I have to offer any my approach, please get in touch and we can say Hi.

I am a big fan of people looking after their mental health and take this into account with everything I do. I believe coaching is more than just setting a plan and asking you to do it. It's about understanding who I'm coaching, how they like to communicate with me and how often, how do they like to get their sessions sent over to them, what makes them tick, what is it that makes them hold back, do they live a busy life, do they struggle with times that they can train and how long do they have. I like to know everything about the person I'm coaching so I can help them achieve what they want to.

I set this up as a venture to help people grow into and enjoy Triathlon as well as other multi-discipline events. At WeDontSettle, we believe that enjoyment in what you are doing comes before achievement as if you enjoy what you're doing, you will probably be achieving as well!

WHo is ken?

I'm Ken,

I started running about 12 years ago to keep fit, cycling about 10 years ago to commute to work, did my first Duathlon (run-bike-run) in April 2018, learnt to swim in May 2018 and did my first triathlon in 2019. Since then I've gone on to achieve a few things including multiple Ironman, Ultra-marathons, cycling the equivalent distance of Lands End to John O'Groats over 4 days in my back garden using a turbo trainer and Zwift, many marathons and nearly made it on to Ninja Warrior UK!

I turned 40 this year and had a good year of events planned including a BIG charity event when I was due to complete four big swims including Coniston end to end (5.25miles), a 10k swim at Hever Castle, a 10k swim at Llanberis and Ullswater end to end (7.25miles) but had Covid in March with a bit of long covid meaning I've only been back training for the last 2 months but already have races in the diary for 2023 with some goals for the year and some stretch goals to aim for depending on how the training goes over the next few months. This last year has been tough both mentally and physically. I've struggled with mental health issues in the past and lost friends and loved ones along the way, but it's made me realise more than ever that sport and wellbeing can make a great difference to how you live your life and I thrive off helping others understand this.

Outside of coaching I'm a father to two amazing boys, a big fan of Anime and sci-fi/comic movies, I enjoy a free evening playing on my consoles and good food (but not super fancy food). I'm partial to a rum and coke and a decent bottle of red occasionally. Oh yeah, I'm also openly a member of the LGBT community

I work as an Agile Coach and Senior Delivery Manager when I'm not coaching and love what I do. I feel the approach I take at work hands itself nicely to coaching and my coaching helps me understand more about the whole person I'm working with rather than just some athletes.
